"I was incredibly blessed and honored last week to take part in a Sankofa journey with 30 pastors from the Twin Cities. As we visited sites from the Civil Rights Movement in the 60’s, there was great sadness as well as great joy. I greatly benefited from the words of Bryan Stevenson, attorney at the Equal Justice Initiative. The great evil of American slavery wasn't involuntary servitude. It was really this ideology of white supremacy we made up to make ourselves feel comfortable with enslavement. We said that black people are different — we're actually civilizing them by enslaving them. And that was the great evil of American slavery. We never dealt with that." - Pastor John Jacobi
